"'Justice Replaced By Revenge' by Ringworm" by Bill Vogel III
February 9, 2006 A.D.
Metalcore has a busy scene these wicked days. Out of a mass of worthy bands stands the giant Ringworm. Their 2005 opus, "Justice Replaced By Revenge" [Victory Records], is a fierce hybrid of Metalcore stomp and Grindcore aggression.
Ringworm has a ferocious style-jagged bursts of high energy brutality with a soul. Hardcore stomp fused with pure intensity is the steel-riveted backbone of the Ringworm sound. Blast-beats, catchy rhythms, and growled yells are their instruments of precision brutality.
The best cuts include the punishing "Life After The End Of The World," "Seeing Through These Eyes," "Day Of Truth," the darkly beautiful instrumental "Whiskey Drunk," and the primal title-track. Ringworm has a cataclysmic glory all their own.
Overall, Ringworm is as fierce as they come. Ringworm is a blistering wonder of apocalyptic fury. Stay savage. Farewell.
