“’Shine Set Repeat’ by Texas Is On Fire” by Bill Vogel III
January 20, 2006 A.D.
Strangely ironic name goes to: Texas Is On Fire. This fierce little Hardcore outfit a short, but phenomenal opus in 2005's “Shine Set Repeat” [Crash Music, Inc.]. Their style is a melodic hybrid of Swedish Death and Metalcore, with a backbone of pure American steel.
Texas Is On Fire fuses shrill, growled vocals with pummeling blast-beats and fierce, melodious leads. Flashes of Grindcore and Thrash sharpen the roar. It is bruising, this is 25 minutes of beautiful chaos.
The songs often have humorous titles, such as “This Not A Boating Accident” and “Face It Girl, Prince Charming Isn't Coming.” The best cuts include “You're So Going to Hell for That One,” the visceral assault of “Tomahawk!,” “No Guys, This Is Epic,” and the caustic brilliance of “Greetings From The Sunshine State.” Texas Is On Fire is ferocious, with a relentless dynamic.
Overall, Texas Is On Fire is a blistering sonic assault with a crooked smile. Stay savage. Farewell.
