“’Witness’ by Modern Life Is War”
by

December 23, 2005 A.D.

In the burning genre of Metalcore, few bands bring anything unique to the metaphorical dance. Modern Life Is War does. They mix the Indie Rock hystrionics of At The Drive-In with the sheer aggression of Metalcore, and old school Punk Rock ala the Ramones. Their 2005 release, “Witness” [Deathwish Inc. Records], is caustic and cool.

Modern Life Is War bleeds detuned melody. Shrieking yells and light growls tumble across frenzied rhythms, and Rock-tinged guitar assaults. Modern Life Is War is not massively brutal, but they are aggressive....

The noteworthy tracks include the roaring “Young Man Blues,” “Outsider (AKA Hell Is For Heroes, Pt. 1),” the Punk Rock anthem “D.E.A.D.R.A.M.O.N.E.S.,” and “Hair Raising Accounts Of Restless Ghosts (AKA Hell Is for Heroes, Pt. 2).” Modern Life Is War is killer.

In summary, Modern Life Is War is unique. Their style makes them a standout in the current Hardcore maelstrom. Stay savage. Farewell.
