“’The Head And The Heart’ by Deadbird”
by

Imagine the apocalyptic possibilities, a band that sounds like an electrical discharge crossbetween Acid Bath and Iron Monkey. That is the glory and the gloom of the massive Deadbird, an abyss wonder of brutality. This Fayetteville, Arkansas act's 2005 opus, “The Head And The Heart” [Earache/Codebreaker Records], is a blistering onslaught of Sludge/Psychedelic Doom/Grind/Deathrock Metal with poetry as well as power.

Dense, Doom-drenched guitar sludge dances across epic rhythms. Skillful leads and softer moments are now forsaken, just used sparingly for maximum effect. Intense growls, clean sorrowful vocals, and yells are used throughout.

Deadbird has a dark brilliance that makes them monumental.

The best cuts include the ferocious “Rorschach Sky,” the polarly down and deranged “Mount Zero (Is Burning),” “Sadness Distilled,” the expansive “The Head And The Heart,” and “Eclipse Of The Rye.” Deadbird is phenomenal, ferocious, and flawless.

In conclusion, Deadbird has released one of the BEST of 2005. And it's all from the darkest heart. Stay savage. Farewell.
