"'The Haze Of Infatuation' by Burning Season" by Bill Vogel III
June 9, 2005 A.D.
Rising from the darkened abyss, Burning Season plays a brand rebellious Metalcore that kicks and crushes. Their 2005 opus of pure primal aggression, "The Haze Of Infatuation" [Hand Of Hope Records], is a fire-breathing archetype of monumental intensity. Burning Season obliterates....
Dense, raspy growled vocals tear through massive, fiery rhythms. Both chunky and melodic, Burning Season is a ferocious onslaught of skull-smashing radiance. Clean Hardcore vocals are used sparsely, adding a dynamic contrast. The guitars have an acidic beauty, with a harsh yet melodic intensity. Burning Season is an act of nature.
The finest of these beasts includes the apocalyptic glory of "A Fate Like Yours," "The Eternal Now," and the grinding power of "Weight Of The World." Burning Season is the definition of Metalcore excellence.
In summary, Burning Season is brute force brilliance at its best. Burning Season is a visceral must. Stay savage. Farewell.

"'Lost And Found' by Mudvayne" by Bill Vogel III
June 3, 2005 A.D.
One of the last of the great Aggro Metal bands, Mudvayne, has risen from ashen days. Their 2005 opus, "Lost And Found" [No Name/Epic Records], has a continued evolution in melodic aggression. Adding more to the Mudvayne Aggro Metal machinations are the clean, emotive vocals with a chaotic, surreal edginess. And some odd-timing psychosis enhances the primal hostility.
Mudvayne continues on their melodious progression. Guitar licks wash across bizarre, frenzied off-center rhythms at the harshest moments. Chud's growls are superior-much better than his emotional howls. More clean vocals are used here, as well as dark, euphonious instrumentals with a softer edge.
The best of these rampaging cuts includes the ferocious intensity of "Determined," "Rain. Sun. Gone.," the fiery "Pulling The String," and the mournful "Falling Into Sleep." Mudvayne still kills....
In conclusion, this is one fierce slab of Aggro Metal. This is brutality with a gutsy snarl. Stay savage. Farewell.
