"'Frozen Corpse Stuffed With Dope' by Agoraphobic Nosebleed" by Bill Vogel III
July 22, 2003 A.D.
Take early 1990's Blast-Burst Grind, and add Power Grindcore and rudimentary use of Industrial samples-the resulting havoc engine would be the ferocious band Agoraphobic Nosebleed. Their 2002 opus "Frozen Corpse Stuffed With Dope" [Relapse Records], is a 38-track ode to violence.
The song-titles and lyrics are not for the easily offended, or squeamish. Having said this, Agoraphobic Nosebleed has a killer sound. Shrill, biting growls interchange with deep, guttural growled vocals. Songs are typically short, 30-second bursts of fiery, frenetic lunacy ala early Napalm Death. This is crowned with slower, groove-drenched power and sound samples.
The best of these primal cuts includes the frenzied "Repercussions In The Life Of An Opportunistic, Pseudo Intellectual Jackass," "Built To Grind," the blasting "Machine Gun," the powerful "Manual Trauma," "Time Vs. Necessity," and "Double Negative." Agoraphobic Nosebleed is gut-ripping, flesh-blasting Grindcore for the brutality of modern reality. This ain't pretty, this is Grind. Aggression has its own wonder.
Overall, Agoraphobic Nosebleed is a ferocious, natural disaster that is as amazing as it is acidic. Grindfreaks will love this one right down to the bloody gears. Stay savage. Farewell.
