"'The Lonely Position Of Neutral' by TRUSTcompany"

Melodic Hardcore is one of the breakthrough scenes currently in Metal, and one of the standout acts from this genre is TRUSTcompany (a.k.a. Trust Co.). Their Geffen Records debut, "The Lonely Position Of Neutral," is as powerful as it is beautiful. TRUSTcompany is a sublime engine of poetic destruction.
Clean, melodic vocals are interlaced with short bursts of shrieking growls. The guitars and rhythms charge forward-fusing melodious elements with blasting aggression. The softer aspects, juxtaposed powerfully, heightens the edgy, jagged feel of TRUSTcompany's emotional sound.
The most noteworthy cuts include "Drop To Zero," the angst driven "Falling Apart," the bipolar push of the raging "Downfall," and "Take It All." TRUSTcompany makes a solid, intense style of Melodic Hardcore.
Overall, TRUSTcompany is as bludgeoning as beautiful. And there's nothing neutral about that. Stay savage. Farewell.

"'Stanley Climbfall' by Lifehouse"
by

September 24, 2002 A.D.
From irresistible melodies to Pop-soaked, Hard Rock wallop, the band Lifehouse burns-it-up. Their latest slab, "Stanley Climbfall" [Dreamworks Records], solidifies their sound even further, making for a tighter and more focused experience.
Lifehouse's brand of Pop/Alternative Hard Rock uses a dynamic of Pop vocal ensembles mixed with a melodic Grunge instrumental that is at times almost Nirvana-esque. While the Pop aesthetic is very strong, Lifehouse is very much a Hard Rock band.
The opening cut, "Spin," is their best song to-date. The syrupy sweet howl of the vocals floats through the soft and stampeding segments with a bittersweet grace, reflecting the joyful chaos of love (the song's theme). As the lyric aptly states, "The world keeps spinning 'round, tomorrow's upside-down, and I wouldn't change a thing."
Other good cuts include "Empty Space," "Out Of Breath," the stomp of "Sky Is Falling," and "Anchor." Lifehouse has surpassed their previous opus. (There is also a limited edition version of "Stanley Climbfall" out with bonus acoustic tracks.)
Overall, Lifehouse has released a solid new album of Pop/Alternative Hard Rock that can hold-its-own. This one will stand the test of time. Stay true. Farewell.

"'Deathtrain' by Denata"
by
Bill Vogel III
Friday, September 13, 2002 A.D.
From the Old School with a very modern aggression, Denata makes Death Thrash with a masterful edge. Their latest opus of hostile intent, aptly called "Deathtrain" [Arctic/Crash Inc. Records], is as furious as they come. And it is as kinetic as a tornado full of razors.
The guitars are precise and fast-like a laser guided hellfire assault. But there is ample hook as well. Raspy, growled vocals hone the aggression even farther. Denata is pure, unhinged hostility at its best.
The best cuts include "Upon The Hill," "Go To Hell," the rabid "Slaughter Machine," "The Black Lodge," and the devastating title-track.
Overall, Denata has a furious glory beyond cataclysmic. The "Deathtrain" is a ride that should not be missed. Stay savage. Farewell.
